I see what you trying to tell. But. BIOS is not os-depended. I can run a lot of different os systems

under it. Bios = basic input output system. It only cover how to present hw to os. And if it dies,

it has nothing to do with os. So why it dies ? If upgrade went well, computer still worked as well,

only  _after_ rebooting it died, then, the bios code must be the one which killed it. Which basicly

mean your code is broken. That will also explain why 2 years later you added this to your support

As you can see the bios code is from 2016 and HP "We dont take any responsibility" came 2 years after.
Sorry for me i readt this too late. I read a lot of articles from different sites where same thing happened
to different people. Only thing common was that it was Probook.

Dont blame any os which the update was driven, because it dont matter. All what matter is the code, you gave,
what we put in bios. That broke everything.

Or maybe it is that your support system doesnt know, or no one cares,

that same computer is sold with 2 different hw systems, one is intel

and the other is amd. And i dont think that same bios ecosystem can

handle both. But still you offer only one bios for 2.

Curious, how can you do that ?

I think you pehaps misunderstand with whom you are having this discussion.

I am not HP - I am a volunteer.

Except by way of providing information, I cannot (will not) discuss HP policies, service, or actions.

I am obviously not helping your situation.

My road-side analysis may be incorrect - perhaps you have not bricked your computers.  Or, if you have done so, it is perhaps for a different reason or the result of something unrelated to the discussion.

I will graciously take my leave.

What to do?

I do recommend that you contact HP Technical Support  - open a case for each computer separately.

Explain what you did, include which BIOS you tried to install, and ask for help.

Reminders

  • Use the serial number of the device to submit the case (do not post that information here).
  • In those areas where Chat is an option, Chat service hours are likely restricted.
  • Chat is not available in every region.

In the event that Chat is not available in your region:  Call the number provided in the HP directory, else submit your case online (to receive phone contact information)

  • HP will advise you there is a fee for phone support and / or other services when your computer / device is no longer under warranty.  This is normal business practice.

  • HP may tell you that certain services are not covered under warranty.  This is normal business practice.  Standard Warranty typically covers specific hardware issues as explained in the Warranty contract. Care Pack coverage and warranties differ by package.

  • USA / Canada: HPprovides your regional contact information after you submit an online case.  Use the serial number of the device to submit the case to HP.

HP Spectre x2 tablet overheating

Hello Forum,

I have a brand new Spectre (detachable tablet/keyboard) and the heat level is very high.  When it's charging, it's so hot thst it's uncomfortable to hold.  I have adjusted power and battery settings - this helps on battery mode, so far.  I use Chrome mostly, and do not have many other apps loaded or open. Any other suggestions before I return it out of frustration? Thanks!

HP laptop Start-Up Test - Hard Disk Short DST Failed

Short DST: FAILED

FAILURE ID: UOF6MD-67E9GB-MFGK1G-60U803

PRODUCT ID: 87D22UA#ABC

Hard Disk 1

I couldn't find the failure ID on the internet. What does it mean?

Re: HP laptop Start-Up Test - Hard Disk Short DST Failed

Hi:

The exact meaning of that specific code simply states 'Failed.'

So, if you cannot get into Windows, you will need to replace the hard drive and reinstall the operating system.

Consult your specific model g6 notebook's maintenance and service guide for the HDD removal and replacement procedures.

After you replace the HDD, you can reinstall W10 for free as follows...

You can make a W10 USB flash drive installer with the Microsoft Media Creation Tool, using an 8 GB flash drive using another Windows PC, if your PC is not working.

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

If you are asked to enter a product key during the installation process, select the 'I don't have a product key' option, and W10 will install and automatically activate once you are connected to the internet.

Here are the steps to create the W10 USB flash drive installer...

  1. Select Download tool now, and select Run.
  2. If you agree to the license terms, select Accept.
  3. On the What do you want to do? page, select Create installation media for another PC, and then select Next.
  4. Select the language, edition, and architecture (64-bit or 32-bit) for Windows 10. You want 64 bit.

  5. Select which media you want to use:
  6. USB flash drive.  Plug in a blank USB flash drive with at least 8GB of space. Any content on the flash drive will be deleted.

Then you can reinstall the drivers and available software from the PC's support page.

Warranty Denied, Recourse?

Bought in October, had issues with compatibility from the start, recently it crashed for no apparent reason, then during the system restore, the power completely failed when I plugged in a PD 3.0 certified charging cable. Will not turn on or show any signs of life. HP sent me a box to return as it is under warranty, I ordered an M.2 to USB adapter from Amazon to recover a few crucial files that were not backed up, had to open the case to access. Recovered the files, put everything back together except the rubber on the bottom that has to be removed for screw access, HP refuses to honor warranty because I opened it for SSD recovery, after the fact it had already crashed. Wouldn't even open it up to properly diagnose. Is that just how it is with them? Any recourse or suggestions? They don't seem to sell the motherboards aftermarket, and demanded over $400 to take a look at it. Seems ridiculous, don't know what to do.

Just bought a new laptop from Ebuyer. 11/01/2019

Set it up OK and then went through some of the software as you do.

Had a look at 'Jump Start' as I'd not seen that before.

Checked the warranty on the machine and it comes up with 9 months remaining ???? Why ????

I was under the impression you got 12 months warranty on a new device.
