I'm not 100% sure on that -unless the problems happened simultaneously.

I asked for someone to look into your problem but I'm afraid they may have seen system listed as Aspire and didn't read any further. Could you please edit your first post above and change the machine to HP? Click on the 3 dots in right top corner of that post and you will see "Edit".

ok i got an error code 0xc000014c

Re: BIOS Update crashed my laptop

Thanks, the only issue I have is the battery has run out, I then retore the power and it stays on the same issue, all that happens is the fan is running constantly once there is power and the screen is black,  I am unable to access the laptop, it is appearing not to be able to achieve anything more, I have held the power button down for longer periods than 40 seconds and still it does not reset, switch off or anything happen, it is completely stuck at that point, I have not had any issues at all with my laptop and there appears to be no reason for this I know of, how do I contact HP to advise them that it is not a hardware issue but their software download that has caused this, it is where my frustration is currently, I understand the warranty is out of date only just (Sept 2018), but it is down to their software BIOS update and not me or my laptop hardware, can anyone assist me to advise what to do or how to contact HP direct for them to repair this update BIOS issue not just for me but so it does not happen to others, I literally have everything on my laptop and am totally not able to carry on living, work and personal, thanks.

Slowness on AC supply

Hello,

Thanks for reading me here. I have a problem that I cannot solve on my current laptop (last version of Win10).

  • When the laptop is on battery and not plugged with 220v, everything works fine.
  • When I plugged it with electricity, the laptop becomes very slow (not all the time but mostly).

I checked the battery settings and I turned off all the energy savings. I killed all the programs that are running in background such as windows update but it did not solve my problem.

Would you have any idea how to fix that situation ?

Thanks in advance for your help and have a great day.

Benjamin

Light on power button and caps lock are on/blinking but screen stays black

My screen doesn’t turn on. Screen stays black but the power light turns on and the caps lock light flashes/blinks consistently. I assume it’s stuck in sleep or hibernate mode but can’t get it out

My computer makes a high pitched sound. Is it even fixable or do i just need to get a new computer?

I started my computer and it just made this high-ptiched sound that is unbearable to work around or to be around. My computer is approximately 2 1/2 years old, is it something physical that is damaged or is it something in my motherboard that has given up? Iv'e read about coil whine and such, but all of them seem to say that it is impossible to fix.

It apears that none of the Intel i5 or i7 chips with the Radeon RX Vega GPUs will update to 1809. So it is not just the Spectre x360.

I have done the same troubleshooting in safe mode, msconfig selective startup, tried to force the regedit, etc., rinse and repeat and like the rest of you with the i7-8705G Processor with Radeon RX Vega M on the Spectre x360 have been unsuccesful at the 1809 October release of Windows 10.

Unfortunately, from all I have found is that the Intel DCH driver does not support the Update for Windows 1809 for the "...following intel i5 i7 8th generation radeon vega RX GL GH graphics cards are not supported:"
https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/forum/all/intel-released-stable-graphics-driver/77033b3e-e476-4899-bc04-e87f79778dfe

Windows updater did load this new 12/20/2018 driver...

So this is up to Intel and AMD to resolve, and they have not done so as of yet.

I laugh at myself, because all my other Windows 10 computers in the house have the Dark Theme File Explorer, and that's all I want with the 1809 update...

I ended up just removing all backups I previously did, backing up the entire C drive to an external drive and did a factory reset - which fixed all my issues.  I was downgraded from 1803 to 1703, but I would assume that was for a specific reason and I'll get an update soon.  In the meantime, I don't really care about an update if its going to cause me as much trouble as I was having.

You're very welcome, Martin.

I would try manually installing the XP driver for the audio.

Download and install this free file utility.

The first file at the top of the page is for 32 bit.

https://www.7-zip.org/

Then download and save the XP audio driver file, but do not run it.

ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp28501-29000/sp28552.exe

After you save the audio driver file, right click on it, and select 7-Zip from the list of items on the menu.

Have 7-Zip Extract to:  and let it extract the file into its folder name (sp28552).

Once that is done, go to the device manager, click on the Multimedia Audio Controller needing the driver.

Click on the driver tab.  Click on Update driver.

Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and browse to the driver folder 7-Zip created.

Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked, and see if the driver installs that way.

If it does, restart the PC, and the audio should be working.
