Today i plugged the charger on my laptop because it had 15% and i thought it's charging, after it turned off. I turned it on and not long after it turned on again. I noticed the battery light isn't on as it should be while charging. I am wandering if the problem is the charger and if I should replace it. Or it needs to be checked.

See if you can borrow another charger.

Hi, I have lost the C: partition after a failed system restore. Fortunately I saved all the files existing in the "D:\preload\" folder from the recovery partition.  There are one "BUILD.WIM" and the rest are named "Install*.SWM" : recovery.PNGIs there a way to restore the system using these files? Hope you can help me. Thanks in advance!!!

My remark was covering any place of purchase-even HP Online Sales. A laptop purchased from HP Sales can be returned just like any retail store but not after 2 months. HP Sales offers a 30 day return window.

Are the files still in the D partition? If so have you tried booting into it to reinstall? Tap away on the Esc key immediately after powering on. This should open a menu where F11 is a choice. Tap F11 to see if it boots to recovery partition. On the Choose an Option screen, click Troubleshoot. On the Troubleshoot screen, click Recovery Manager.

Your Windows 10 license key is embedded in BIOS and you can reinstall Windows without HP Recovery. Microsoft provides the free Media Creation Tool to download files and create a Windows 10 usb flash drive.Advantage is you will have latest updated version of Windows 10. At least 8gb flash drive required:
    https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

Select Download tool now, save it,then Run.
If you agree to the license terms, select Accept.
On the What do you want to do? page, select Create installation media for another PC, and then select Next.
Select the language, edition, and architecture (64-bit) for Windows 10.
The Guide here shows the steps.Pay attention to Step 5 since you will be using another pc:
    https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/2376-create-bootable-usb-flash-drive-install-windows-10-a.html
    -------------------------------
When the flash drive is prepared insert it in a usb port. Power on the laptop and immediately start tapping Esc key. From the menu tap F9 key and use the arrow keys to move to and select usb. Tap Enter key.
When installing and you go through first few screens- choose Custom and select each partition and delete each (if you have more than one).Install on the unallocated space left from that process.Continue with installation. It should pickup the key from BIOS but if it asks at any point just choose "I don't have a key". It will continue and should activate once you are online.

Since you have an Acer Aspire laptop you will need Acer support to fix that error:

Welcome to the forum  I see you have run the extensive tests. What results did you get? Any failed hardware? You might try booting into recovery partition to do a fresh Windows install. HP has a step by step guide:

    http://hp.dezide.com/ts/start.jsp?guide=HPSystemRecovery.net&as=true&SFS=sdoc&section=ccweb

Btw, your model and Product ID should be on the bottom cover of your laptop.

I want to be able to boot my laptop from a USB stick, and decided to test this by writing an ISO image on to the stick.

On the USB stick, I've used Rufus, Win32Disk Imager, and Balena Etcher on separate occasions to write the ISO on it (also reformated the USB to FAT32 each time), but get the same error message (see below) for each variant.

On the PC, I've attempted to boot it from the USB device by selecting Start -> Settings -> Recovery -> Advanced Startup (Restart Now button) -> Use a device -> USB Drive (UEFI).

This always results in the error message `The selected boot device failed. Press <Enter> to Continue`.

In BIOS, I've also changed the boot order for both UEFI and legacy to boot from USB first, but the system loads Windows anyway (even with the USB stick inserted).

Somewhere I saw the advice to enable `Legacy Support` in BIOS but this has no effect.

Question: How can I get the Compaq PC to boot from the USB stick (or at least to recognize the stick when booting from it)?

    BIOS: Insyde F.23, 19/09/2014
