Thanks for the quick respone.
i used Acronis true image to clone the disks, apart from the initial boot up time to get to the desktop which is about 1min longer than the original i have no issues, everything seems to be there and working,
i guess i expected to be as fast, but maybe a bigger drive is slightly slower.
i will try what you recommended and see, other than that, thanks for the info.

Below are the links to the drivers you need.
1st install the smbus controller driver. I have zipped it up and attached it below. You have to manually install it as follows...
Download and unzip the file to its folder. Do not do anything with the files in the folder.
Go to the device manager, click on the smbus controller needing the driver.
Click on the driver tab. Click on Update Driver. Select the Browse my computer for driver software option, and browse to the driver folder you unzipped. Make sure the Include Subfolders box is checked, and the driver should install . Then restart the PC.

No doubt you are also missing the 32 bit graphics driver...scroll down the page, select the W7 32 bit Cataylist Software Suite.
You can delete all of those windows.old folders if you have determined your mother does not need any of the files in those folders from her old user profiles.
Run the disk cleanup utility>click on the cleanup system files button.

There are no W10 drivers for the switchable graphics.
If this W8 driver doesn't work, then I would go back to W7.

Today i plugged the charger on my laptop because it had 15% and i thought it's charging, after it turned off. I turned it on and not long after it turned on again. I noticed the battery light isn't on as it should be while charging. I am wandering if the problem is the charger and if I should replace it. Or it needs to be checked.

For that model you will need to contact HP in your region and they should be able to send you a customized SMC.bin file which you can use at boot to reset the password.

Just to note:
Do not try removing the RTC/BIOS battery. As it will not remove the password, but it may reset the clock and as SMC files are time coded, a large disparity between the system clock and the time encoded in the SMC may cause it to fail.

Hi, 2 days ago the laptop that i ordered finaly delivered. Ever since i first opened the laptop after installing windows 10 it began to work fine but when i entered simple games such as roblox it could nt even get above 20fps no matter what i did and i didn t know why. The next day it started working fine but after 30 minutes of playing roblox it started again, this time barely getting above 10 fps. I downloaded some games like postal 2,Terraria and Minecraft. First it could easily run all games over 60 fps and after about 10 mins of gameplay it started lagging again VERY BAD. I re-installed windows and the same thing was happening.
My laptop has an amd e2-9000e and 4 gb ddr4 ram and i think it should be able to run these games!
... since MS "halted" the release of v1809, NO ONE has received v1809 Upgrade as part of a standard rollout. So, it could be days, weeks, even MONTHS before a particular PC make and model gets the v1809 Upgrade.
I'm assuming you're talking about HP devices, but the 1809 update has well and truly been (re)released starting in Mid-November, and had previously installed it on a different device. Microsoft has released 1809, Intel has released driver updates, and it's only HP that hasn't released updates.
I had previously used 1809 on a different device, and this, losing access to features I was actively using rather than simply having to wait longer for the new features, makes it more fustrating.
Second, HP provides us no access to schedule information regarding when, or if, they plan on updating any specific drivers. So, we have no way of getting that information to provide it to you.
That's annoying, and I'm guessing there is no way to get someone involved in the update process to comment. But in your experience, do you have some timeframe in which you would expect HP to release customized verions of their drivers?
After a windows update, windows no longer recognizes me as a user. It takes a long time to boot up and says we can not log you into windows. All my programs are gone (lost my itunes library) but I can still dig into the file system and find some things.
Windows recovery protocols do not work, they eventually back out and say there is an error.
Is there a simple fix for this?
I think it maybe is a driver caused problem that you don´t get an update shown under Windows Update.
Ich you want to install the Intel Driver you need to download it from Intel Support site, turn Internet off to prevent Windows from downloading the HP driver again, uninstall the HP driver, restart (with network disconnected) and the install the driver you downloaded before.
Don´t forget to backup your files before - just in case....
You'll have to order that from HP.

I used the media creation tool to try and install the 1809 update, but it failed because of the incompatable driver. On other forum posts, I've read that using the generic Intel drivers mean that you could lose features like brightness control, but it's worth a shot. I'll update you once I install it.
