If you can't get on Wi-fi without logging in try plugging an ethernet cable from modem/router to laptop to see if that works.

Hi Banhien,

Thanks for your reply. Will I need a licence to key in order to reformat? I bought this laptop from a shop and Windows 10 has already been installed. There was no CD or DVD provided and no licence key. Will I be able to reformat it successfully without a licence key? Thanks again.

If you have a Recovery partition you can boot into recovery to format and reinstall. You can also use HP Recovery Manager to create Recovery Media. This is all dependent on the Recovery partition being intact.

Windows 10 Recovery:

Hi,

As you said: it is running better nowthen if I was you, I would not go back to Windows 10. Nothing wrong with Windows 7.

Hi,

First... Windows 8 , Windows 8.1 are different operating systems.

"then i did a complete format with windows 8 (deleted every partition and created some new ) as i don't have 8.1 iso ."

How did you do this? Where did you get the Windows 8 ISO and key?

"Now after reinstalling it system worked fine. But f2 system diagnostics become old 1.6.0 and pressing f11 system recovery do not open anything but the system startup continue . Also i have deleted all the partition :-( :'( even hp_recovery!!"

If you've not used Recovery USB/DVD to factory reset OS, you'll loose recovery partition on installation of Windows ( clean install )

". I don't have money to buy system recovery disk from hp ! ."

Why do you want recovery discs now? Ate you planning to factory reset again?

Unless you buy recovery media from HP , since you've not created Recovery USB/DVD after first setup of this laptop, you don't have any other option to factory reset OS.
Nevertheless you can clean install Windows 8.1 using Microsoft windows media creation tool by making UEFI bootable installation USB.

Visruth

Thanks for reply Cheryl. If I boot into the recovery partition and reformat, I won't require a licence key or product key? Thanks again.

Note: Back up all the personal data to an external drive if it's possible. Otherwise you could connect the failed HDD via SATA to USB adapter with another PC or same PC after replacement of HDD & re-installation of OS and try copying /recovering the files. Thank you very much for your help.

However, I tried all of them before, nothing works.

I have been able to install those drivers manually except the 1002's, I had to install the old drivers from package SP52657 that I downloaded earlier from HP Support, but I had to install them manually as well. The problem is: I know very well that the display drivers in that package used to crash Windows7 but I have no choice but to try them now under windows10.

Wish me luck.

A PC hardware diagnostic test reporting a hardware device failure is indeed a hardware device failure, not a software issue.

Please do not cloud the issue with statements like that. The Diagnostics were created for a good reason.

If you already have a recovery backup of os, you can use that backup to re-install the os. If it is win8.1, your computer will be turned to win8.1 from win10. You can update it again.

I just went through all this problem and finally figured out.

Here is what should work with any HP machine:

1- Get a flash drive, format it.

2- Go to HP support and find out what model is your machine

3- Select Downloads and Drivers and you'll see many collapsed items. Look for BIOS.

4- Click to download BIOS and make sure you know the path you are saving it.

5- Rename you flash drive HP_TOOLS

6- Run the BIOS app you just downloaded and follow the steps until you get:
a- "Update"   b- "Create Recovery Flash drive"  c- "Copy"
7- Choose "copy" and click "next". You'll be prompt to choose where to save. Choose the flash drive HP_TOOLS
8- Remove the flash drive
9- Make sure the laptop to be fixed is off and not connected to the outlet.
10- Insert flash drive (If your laptop is old consider using a 2.0 flash drive)
11- Press "WIN" and "B" keys simultaneously and connect the AC adaptor to laptop

12- Press "power" on laptop for 2 seconds keeping  "Win" and "B" keys pressed

Your laptop should boot right away.

I am trying to perform a hard reset by holding the power button for 15 seconds but every time I do, the computer powers back on. Is there an alternative way to perform a hard reset?
