Hi,
You're welcome - entering the code will have removed the requirement for a power on password.
Regarding the other issue, Shutdown the notebook.
Tap away at the esc key as you start the notebook to enter the Start-up Menu. Select the Diagnostic Menu option ( f2 ) and run the tests on the Hard Drive and Memory.
Post back with the results, including any error codes that may be generated.

Hello Hp
Happy to be a part of your family .
I bought my first laptop notebook in HP.
MY ram in build was 4Gb,But actually needed 8Gb .So the seller told me he can make it to 8 Gb .Accordingly he placed 0ne more 4GB to the ram Slot .And he showed me now the ram is 8 GB.But when i checked it it just showing 8Gb and usable ram as 3.45Gb.which is not even half of the 8 GB so when i asked him he told me in most of the hp its like this only .Then i asked him what is the point of using 8 Gb ram then?
So i here doubt this condition .Please help me to get the sufficient ram supply as per required .
Thank you
Yours Faithfully

My notebook was working properly for 4 years and suddenly, when I started it up, i got this error message:
"Manufacturing Program Mode Set 160 of 10"
Only thing I can do with my notebook is to go to the BIOS settings. Boot from a CD or USB stick doesn't work either.
If the error code was "Manufacturing Program Mode Set [number below 10] of ten", there would be a solution here:
But with a number higher than ten, I can't find any solution. Furthermore, my problem appeared suddenly and wasn't there since I bought my notebook.
I hope you can help me with a solution
Zdraváím mám problém s klávesovými stkratkami pro jas ( f9,f10). Poté co stisknu fn a f9,f10 tak se s jasem nic neděje. POkud vstoupím do nastavení tak jas reaguje. KLavésové zkratky zvuku a spánku fungují. Mám Pc HP Probook 450 G2 notebook. Win 7 home premium 64 bit.

Hello,
Couple of weeks ago I received an older laptop HP 620 from my sister. While everything works great I can't get into BIOS as we both forgot the password. Some users say that after 3rd try you get specific error code for master password. In my case I only get On-Screen Keyboard after 3rd time. If I press Enter again I get this:
Authentication Failed
System Locked
Press the power button to restart the system
I have already try to remove CMOS battery for 5 minutes with no luck.
Is there anything I can do to avoid replacing BIOS chip?
Thank you,
Can
You will need to contact HP and they should be able to send you a customized SMC.bin file which you can use at boot to reset the password.

What a crock David. I have been reading these Forum's for the past 2 hours trying to find an answer for my "Lemon" 15G070NR which I purchased less than 2 years ago. I also purchased the Carepak and found out that the date for the Warranty does not begin on the date that you purchase your computer, but is "back-dated" to when the computer (Laptop in this case) was manufactured. So I paid for 6 months where the Laptop was sitting on a shelf at HP gathering dust waiting for a Hopeful "HP Satisfied Customer" (WHICH I AM NOT) to come along and play "Spin the Wheel of Fortune" and land this lovely Lemon....
I will never purchase another Compaq or HP Computer or Printer. I have had nothing but problems with HP & Compaq - my initial Compaq was purchased in about 1997 and at that time when I needed it serviced, after one (1) bench repair, Compaq refused to honor the 1 year warranty. Thanks Carly Fiorina...I love how you stood behind your products & the Warranty that was part of the purchase, but that your company wouldn't honor during that 1 year period...(it must have been sitting on a shelf somewhere for a year - (1) year), such that the Warranty ended before I ever received the computer...
Well now, this lovely Lemon HP 15G070NR Laptop has been returned twice -(2) times - for the same error: "P2PP BurnBoot Check Failed"...and the related verbage that follows the Blue Screen Death...which similar issues date back to 2013 on related other HP Laptops and Computers in this lovely HP Forum...(need I also expend more "hot air" as to the inadequacy of being able to narrow in on an HP "Sorting System" for making this Forum more user friendly - so you aren't sitting here on your "Don Quixote Arse" for 2 hours looking for an Answer while attempting to get this stupid Forum to narrow it's answers to a Specific question...instead I find myself all over the map just trying to FIND a simple answer for a simple question...
And NO, unless I can get HP to tell me how to "UNFAIL" my Cyberlink PowerToGo9" and Cyberlink "Label-Maker" - which are the only two programs to fail the Diagnostic Tests - I'm not wasting anymore Shipping money on continual repairs for the same **bleep** issue..."P2PP BurnBoot Check Failed"...which literally means nothing more than..."This is a crappy Laptop and it has so many things wrong with it, that "We," Here at HP, can never make an Orange or Apple out of a LEMON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
i already have chipset driver.

Hallo,
the service of HP can't solve the problem. I must send the device to HP. It will be about 10 days and nobody can tell me the costs. It is terrible! Nobody shut by such devices!
with regards
Did you ever figure this one out? I am having the same issue but I believe its my power supply. I have to unplug the cord from the wall and plug it back in like the power supply is overloading but kicker is my battery doesnt charge so when the power supply loses power the whole unit just goes off. If I simply unplug the power cord from the side of the unit and plug it back in, nothing happens. I have to unplug from teh wall..
Boot/Recovery partitions corrupted.
Need a Recovery DVD for a HP Pavilion dv7-6165us Entertainment Notebook PC
http://www.computersurgeons.com does not have it.
Can I get it from HP? If not, where else?
Thanks Ozzie
